Irina Krush, the strongest ever homegrown female player in the US, my teammate in 2004 at the Olympiad, just finished a 6-game match with German’s top female player IM Elizabeth Pahtz, runner up of the 2006 Women’s World Chess Cup.
The first 4 games were drawn. Irina struck first in game 5 and held on for a draw in game 6 to win the match by the score of 3.5 – 2.5.
Congratulations to Irina! Well done!

Good job, Irina!
Good job, congratulations, and well done!
Congratulations to Irina! She is an excellent representative for women’s chess in the USA. She has demonstrated that young women living in the USA can develop into top level chess players if they just work hard and are given some help along the way.
She’s a great role model for all the girls in scholastic chess in the USA. I hope she becomes more active in promoting chess among the young women in the USA.
Congratulations Irina! I have seen Irina Krush on World Chess Network, playing banter chess, playing 2 minute Master Challenge, commenting on live Broadcasts, as well as lectures. She is a very nice an intelligent chess player! I know she goes to university. My question to you Susan, will her education which is of utmost importance, but also very time consuming hold her back from becoming a GM?
