move the rook to f5 and penetrate the king via the white squares:d3,c4,b5. If the king abandons the control of f7 the attack the g7 pawn. Otherwise trade the R for B on the Q side and then decoy the Black king in order to capture all the K side pawns
These puzzels are great, but where do we find the answer if we cannot solve them.
The best plan is to take the opposition with 1.Ke4.
All whites’ pawns and rook are immune to attack. Also the black king can never get to white’s side. Thus the black king will be driven back further-either on this move or the follow up 2.Rf5+ (so long as black does not move the bishop to protect f5. If black’s bishop moves anywhere though, it must move back to b6 to protect the a and g pawns.)
Once the white king can penetrate onto black’s side, with good technique the black pawns will fall and the game will be easily won.
1. Rf5, as the first poster suggested, looks best/easiest.
If 1. Ke4 f6 and Black shuffles the King from e6 to d6 as needed to prevent the White Rook from infiltrating at c6 or f6/f7; tempo moves with the Bishop as necessary. The opposition by itself doesn’t accomplish anything unless Black can be forced to cede an entry square for the White king. I suspect, without working out all the variations, that White can maneuver to accomplish that after 1. Ke4 f6. Perhaps something along the lines of 2. Rb1 Kd6 3. Rc1 Bc7 4. Rc4 Bb6 5. Rc8 Ke6 (otherwise 6. Rg8) 6. Rc6+ Kf7 7. Kd5. But that’s just a first glance; it would require careful analysis of all the possible tempo moves by the Bishop and Rook, not to mention the Kings.
1. Rf5 followed by the King infiltrating the queenside just looks simpler.
1.ke4 should win … (rf5 is a blunder for sure)
my plan would be – catch all pawns from the opposite side the black king will go to … trade rook vs. bishop – win by tempi …
if king moves back to e7 – follow him to make him move to a side and then follow plan a) …
