1. Qg6
1Qg6 mates easily
Qg6 wins easily
I think f7 pawn looks dead after
1. Rae1
Obviously threats Re7, but even if black prevents it (Nc6), white still plays Bxf7+ and black can’t take with his rook due to Re8 mating!
I may have missed something (as usual), but I could not find good moves for black after 1. Rae1.
1. Qg6
Black has no defence against
2. Qh7+
If 1. …Be4, then
2. Rxe4
If 1. …R(f)e8
2. Qh7+ Kf8
3. Qh8++
Other moves, such as 1…Qxh2+
only delay the end.
Qg6! fg5
Rh3 Re8
Rh7 Qe5
Qf7 Kh7
Qh5++
Gosh.
When I get the solution it’s obvious, but simple as it is, this is damned easy to miss….
