I was shocked when I read some of the comments from fans on various Internet servers during the games broadcast of the FIDE World Championship.
No one can argue that M. Adams and my sister Judit are both having one of the worst tournaments of their careers. However, many said that Adams is just having a horrible tournament while Judit has no business being in this tournament and she is just simply not good enough.
I don’t know why she is not performing up to her standards but let’s look at two examples of her latest results from the world-class event Corus (2003 and 2005 – She did not play in 2004 because she took time off to have a family):
Final Standings: 2005 grandmaster group A
1. P. Leko 8½
2. V. Anand 8
3. V. Topalov 7½
4. J. Polgar, A. Grischuk, V. Kramnik, M. Adams 7
8. L. Bruzon, R. Ponomariov, L. van Wely 6½
11. P. Svidler 6
12. N. Short 5½
13. A. Morozevich 4½
14. I. Sokolov 3½
Final Standings: 2003 grandmaster group A
1. V. Anand 8½
2. J. Polgar 8
3. E. Bareev 7½
4. V. Kramnik, A. Shirov, A. Grischuk, L. van Wely, V. Ivanchuk 7
9. T. Radjabov, V. Topalov 6½
11. R. PonomariovA. Karpov 6
13. M. Krasenkow 4½
14. J. Timman 2½

Susan,
You must realize that 25% of the people on these sites are ill mannered or ignorant (sometime3s both). No one with any knowledge of the chess world or Judit’s record shares these views. Please stay positive, as you are always in your best light. Don’t let the bottom trollers pull you down. (I always put on a “moron” filter anytime I enter a world wide web site: 25% of the stuff will be total garbage, and needs to be ignored.) Thanks for all you do!
Don’t worry about some stupid guys who think Judit doesn’t deserve to be in San Luis. She is good enough, and everybody who likes about chess knows it.
By the way, I always have think that you are even better than her, but its a matter ot taste.
Congratulations , your blog is the best.
Judit is in my eyes the number one.
She is the only one in Argentina top good looking player- she is the only with familly- and she produces incredibly exciting and fighting chess.I love her style and my dream is an all day private lesson from her.My best players are 1-Tal,2-judit,3-Kasparov.Best wishes to you Zsuzsa thanks also for all you do.
I must agree 100% with miked. Judit’s record speaks for itself.
Unfortunately, on server relays most of the people with things to say aren’t worth listening to.
Hope Judit can show us a little of her best before the tournament ends to silence some of these *expletive deleted* people!
Mike, thanks! I am sure she will be happy to know that there are fair people out there 🙂
bazofia2001, thanks. Better or worst is just a matter of opinion. My focus in chess is more than just playing and I would not want to change positions with anyone else.
Yes, she will fight in every game. That is her way.
Stegbeetle, thanks! I hope she will too.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

I copy and paste one of my earlier comments: In 2002 and 2003 combined she only lost five games (classical time control). So, obviously she is a top 10 player.
I guess, some people are having the time of their lives seeing a woman play “bad chess”. But everyone who knows (and loves) the game of chess, know that this “women can’t play chess”-stuff is just nonsense.
The reason, why she plays poorly? Well, she is no Fritzy or Shredder or whatever – she is a human being.
Btw, I am convinced, a woman (no, not Judit) will become world champion in the future.
Best regards,
Chris
Aloha Susan,
I still remember her 1998 win of the 99th U.S. Open, held in Kono, Hawaii. She ended up tied with Boris Gulko with 8.0 records, and she continues to improve. Everyone has their ups and downs! It it would great to see her again at one of our U.S. Open tournaments and win it again! Mahalo, Paco
Susan:
You have to ignore these comments on the Internet. Most of these people have no knowledge of chess and will not last 20 moves against Judit 😉
I am pretty sure anyone with the slightest knowledge of the game or its history would never make such a moronic remark. It just smacks of ignorance.
I saw your argument on chessgames.com. I wish you would come back as there are some people (like me) there who value your comments and insights.
Statistics done lie at the end of the day! What she has accomplished and still may will always be part of history.
I agree Susan
I find it disgusting what they allow on the internet sometimes. At first I used to criticise her(and your) attackers but its fruitless to argue with people devoid of brains. It’s a shame that there is very little moderation going on by the supposed moderator for ICC and Playchess.
That misoginistic behavior is NOT suitable for children and teenagers who might be reading. It Makes me wonder what my daughter would face with so many sexists around in CHess.
The accomplishments of you and your two sisters in Chess are magnified since it was even worse years ago.
It is so ironic that all of you have had sons.
The bigger stoory is that she finished so well in in the upper half at Corus despite having a baby to think about.
Adams has no such reasons for his performance.
there comments have made me angry also. really poor of them.
Great to see you post the results of Judit. I have watch her play and knew she had done well.
well she obtained a draw today. I was hoping for a win again. every day I hope for a win for her.
I simply want her to come right back in the next tmt and do well. that is the best. I really believe she can become the world champion. but it will take some work and some luck.
My heart and love go with all of you sisters.

Hi Susan,
Judit’s performance in San Luis is far below her potential. She is one of the World’s best and truly deserves to be playing for the world championship. I am confident that she will break out of this slump and soon be wowing us as the classy champion that we have followed over the years.
Please don’t let the postings of some village idiots get to you.
Best regards.
Tom
It is obvious to anyone even vaguely familiar with the chess scene that everyone currently playing in San Luis has deserved to be there without the slightest hint of doubt.
Please don’t dwell on things some ignorant people say.
