… Rg2.
Hello
1. …., Rg2+
If
2. Kh3 , Rh2++
and if
2. Kh1 , Rh2++
Greetings from Spain
Rg2 folowed by Rh2?
Rg2 Kh3
Rh2++
this is better.. deleted my other solution..
Rg2, followed by Rh2
found it in less than 5 seconds
1. .. Rg2++
2. Kh3 Rh2+
3. Bxh2 Bf5+
4. Rg4 Bxg4
0-1
Rb7++
followed by Ra7#
Took 30-45 seconds
1. Rg2++ and 2.. Rh2#
Can anyone show a position where a double check can be answered by anything other than a king move?
1. … Rg2+
2. Kh1 Rh2#
2. Kh3 Rh2#
Rg2++!!
Rb7, I think
1) … Rg2(double check) followed by mate
… Rg2++(double check) followed by mate in next move
… Rg2+ (double check in fact)
K-any Rh2 mate
yes – 5 seconds
Rh3+ wins
Brit-Mate
Rg2+
I had to look at this for a couple of minutes. Thanks for the puzzle.
Mike R.
No… Rxg6 wins
Brit-Mate
1.. Rh3+
2. Kxh3 Be6+
3. Rg4 Bxg4#
er… sorry, ym last “solution” doesn’t work.
1. … Rg2+ and mate next move.
1… Rb7++ 2. Ka6 Ra7#
I think…
Rb7+ is the move
ops, sorry. Rb2….
1. Rook g2. King to h3.
2. Rook h2, checkmate.
well, Rb7+ followed by Ra7 mate, methinks
Rb7+ and Ra7 mate, methinks
1. Rb7+, if king goes to a8, then rook to a7++. if it goes to a6, then Ra7++
1…Rg2+ 2.Kh3 Rh2 mate
Kamalakanta
Play Rg2+
The white king can move to h1 or h3, either way Rh2 is mate.
1…Rg2+ Kh3 2…Rh2#
Not in 10 seconds though.
Rg2 double-check (saves the f4 bishop), followed by Rh2#
10 seconds, maybe 15
1. … Rg2+ and 2. … Rh2 Mate. Made possible because Rg2+ is a double check, and on 2. Kh1 so is Rh2. Handy fellows, those bishops!
1. … Rg2 was the move I saw first and at once so I did in fact solve it in around 10 seconds, though I wasn’t timing it.
Need a double check since the f4 bishop is under attack.
1. …..Rg2
2. Kh3 Rh2#
Or
1. ….Rg2
2. Kh1 Rh2#
as they say, this is eezaay 🙂
1. … Rg7+
2. Kh1/h3 Rh7#
oops, got the g7/g2 business inverted.
1. … Rg2+
2. Kh1/h3 Rh2#
1 minuto o menos!!
1. …Tg2+, (si 2.Rh3 Th2#)
2.Rh1 Th2#

“Can anyone show a position where a double check can be answered by anything other than a king move?”
No. That is not possible. When a king is double checked, it is checked from two direction at the same time. It isn’t possible to block two directions in only one move, hence the king must move.
(If a knight does the double check, then it has to be captured. But how blocking the check from the other piece (queen, rook or bishop)? It is impossible.)
The fact really is that the king ALLWAYS has to move when he is double checked.
