Vietnam wants to boost cooperation with Kalmyk, said President Nguyen Minh Triet at a reception for visiting President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in Ho Chi Minh City on August 29.

The State leader said Vietnam will support Ilyumzhinov to be a candidate to the President of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) for the next tenure.

Kalmyk President Ilyumzhinov thanked President Triet for his warm welcome and conveyed the thanks of the Kalmyk people to the Vietnamese President and people their fine sentiments towards the Republic of Kalmykia and Russia.

President Ilyumzhinov proposed cooperating with Vietnam in rice production for sales in Russia and republic countries of the former Soviet Union.

He also proposed Vietnam bring its goods to the Russian and European markets through Kalmykia and put forward initiatives for both sides to cooperate in building the Vietnamese street and garment workshops in Kalmykia.

As FIDE President, Ilyumzhinov conveyed greetings from FIDE’s chess players and chess federation members to President Triet who has encouraged the development of chess in Vietnam.

He said he was impressed by the development of chess in Vietnam, especially its chess players’ recent achievements.
