It came down to endgames. Galliamova and Chiburdanidze demonstrated their superior endgame skills against their opponents. They were rewarded with a full point. Both Xu and Kovalevskaya fought very hard to win an even endgame but the game ended up in a draw. Matveeva and Sebag basically had a closed position where neither side could make any progress. Game two of round 4 will be tomorrow.
