King Topalov!
Oh come on…thats too easy!
ivanchuk
Boo Topalov!
Anand!
Toppa. Easy one.
Perhaps Topalov but Anand is champ. Period.
According to chessvibes Anand and Topalov will meet at the 2nd Nanjing Grand Slam in the end of september. If this is true, I guess this tournament will answer the question.
I think Anand has a real chance to pass Topalov. Ivanchuk is indeed crazy enough to make it as well. But it’s also possible that he is not in the 2700 any more at the end of this year.
With all my repect for the Int’l institutions the WC should be the guy with the highest ELO:) Simple, right?
The problem with the highest ELO theory is that the player with the highest will avoid playing in too many matches/tournaments just to maintain his high rating. He will just prepare for 1 or 2 big rated events, play in those and do well in those and gain some rating points.
But those who play more often might end up gaining only marginally, or might even lose a couple of ELO points or might not change. The ratings themselves are inflated.
Maybe we can scrap all ratings and start from 0 like the ATP and then declare the player with the highest rating at the end of the year as World champ.
Kasparov still has the highest rating according to your argument and is world champ.
Well, Radjabov is the best looking.
GM Polgar! She is best looking too!
To my previous post: Anand will not participate in Nanjing!!!
No doubt! Of cource Topalov…
