Carlsen – Leko
Ponomariov – Aronian
Grischuk – Shirov
Gelfand – Svidler
Morozevich – Mamedyarov
Can the enterprising style of Carlsen make a dent against Leko? What about the other leaders Ponomariov and Aronian? Will be it a draw to maintain the lead? What are your predictions?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I am looking at the Leko position just now (move 40 done)and see that it looks really dominating i hope he can score the full point
it seems like carlsen could’ve had a draw by repetition but chose not to go that route- i hope carlsen can at least draw here- he’s not having a very good tournament
Move 52 played. Looks like a draw. Well done Magnus! Maybe not a very good tourny so far for the young norwegian, but its not over yet. Anyway its great experience.
The games must be over by now, but I can’t find any summary of the results or the games. Anyone have any updates or suggestions where to look?
Ponomariov-Aronian 1/2
Gelfand-Svidler 1-0
Carlsen-Leko 1/2
Morozevich-Mamedyarov 1/2
Grischuk-Shirov 1-0

It seems to have been unusual openings day (Ponomariov-Aronian played a Ruy López Anti-Marshall, Gelfand a strange variation on the Reti and Shirov an unsuccessful Rossolimo-Sicilian).
Good ending by Carlsen, unlike Morozevich did (I still can’t understand his last moves, maybe he was under time pressure). Grishuk attacks in mid-game were also amazing.
Greetings!
