1.Bf8+ Rxf8
2.Rh7+ Kd8
3.Qxd6+ Kc8
4.Qc7#
If 1…Kxf8, Qxd6.
If 2…Rf7, Qxf7 followed by a mate.
If 3…Ke8, Re7#
At least…Qh7 Rg6# Rd1#.
Bf8+ wins the queen and forces mate no matter which way black captures after Rh7+.
Bf8+ RxB, Rh7+ K-any, QxQ
or
Bf8+ KxB, QxQ+
or
Bf8+ Kd8, QxQ+
Bf8+ I’m a human who sometimes acts like a comp. (no rybkas were used) 🙂
1. Bg5+ Kd7
2. Qf7+ Kc6
3. Rh6 and the Queen will be exchanged by a Rock
Isidoro
My initial idea is to start the winning
combination with the bishop check at f8.
If the King moves to d7 or d8 then Qxd6+
forcing the King to e8 followed by Qe7#.
1.Bf8+ Kd7 or d8
2.Qxd6+ Ke8
3.Qe7#
If the King takes the bishop on f8 then
there are myriad mating combinations:
1.Bf8+ Kxf8
2.Qg7+ Ke8
3.Rh8+ Qf8
4.Rxf8#
or
2.Qg8+ Ke7
3.Rg7+ Kf6
4.Rh6#
or
3.Rh7+ Kf6
4.R(Q)g6#
or
2.Qxd6+ Kf7
3.Rh7+ Ke8
4.qe7#
or
2.Qxd6 Ke8
3.Rh8 Kf7
4.Rh7+ Ke8
5.Qe7#
Those are the King takes Bishop lines.
Let’s see what happens when the Rook
captures the Bishop:
1.Bf8+ Rxf8
2.Rh7+ Rf7
3.Qxf7+ Kd8
4.Rh8+ Qf8
5.Rxf8#
or
4.Rg8+ Qf8
5.Rxf8#
or
5.Qd7#
One last variation:
1.Bf8+ Rxf8
2.Rh7+ Rf7
3.Rxf7+ Ke8(d8)
4.Qg8+ Qf8
5.Qxf8#
Bf8+ wins ..Mate in 5..
Bf8+ wins.. Mate in 5!
1.Bf8+! Rxf8 2.Rh7+ Cleans house….

Just got home from church, so now I’ll give this a try.
Candidate moves that suggest themselves are 1. Qh7+ (brings Rook on g1 into the game), and 1. Bf8+ (brings Rook on h1 into the game).
It appears that 1. Qh7+ is not the correct move, since Black doesn’t have to move her King to the 8th rank, but can play 1… Ke6, after which 2. Rg6+, while winning the Black queen for the White rook, doesn’t appear to lead to checkmate, and Black is left with a fierce-looking attack against the White king. So let’s try 1. Bf8+ instead.
1. Bf8+ [Kxf8 2. Qg7+ Ke8 3. Rh8+ and mate in one more move] 1… Rxf8 2. Rh7+ and Black is going to be checkmated shortly.
