Sipke Ernst Claims Belgrade Trophy

The 25th Belgrade International Open Championship (Belgrade Trophy) took place from 24th November to 2nd December in Obrenovac, near Belgrade.

The Championship with 195 participants was played over 9 rounds according to the FIDE Swiss System and is valid for international norms for FIDE titles. The prize fund was 6000 EUR with 1500 EUR reserved for the winner.

Dutch Grandmaster Sipke Ernst edged the local GM Miodrag R Savic on better tie-break after both players finished with 7.5 points to claim the winner’s trophy. This is Ernst’s second title in Belgrade in 2011 as he also won the Summer Open.
