Festival Paulista de Xadrez 2011

The 2011 Festival Paulista de Xadrez is being held from 25th November to 4th December in Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Festival is organized by the Federação Paulista de Xadrez and consists of two round robin tournaments and the Swiss-Open Campeonato Paulista de Xadrez Absoluto.

The 10th Internacional Mario Covas Jr. was a 10-player round robin that concluded on 2nd December. GM Sandro Mareco once again convincingly takes the first place leaving the nearest opposition a full point behind. Last year Mareco also won the 9th Internacional Mario Covas Jr. in similar fashion.

The 8th Internacional Regina Helena Marques Prol, also a 10-player round robin, took place concurrently with the Grandmaster event. FM Carlos Alberto Barreto Filho takes a clear first place with 6.5 points and earns his second IM norm.

Campeonato Paulista de Xadrez Absoluto 2011 – Memorial Ricardo Rudge Ramos is being played on 2nd-4th December at the Hotel Atlântico, in Santos, Sao Paulo. The tournament format is 6-round Swiss with the time control 90′+30”.
