Carlsen, Vachier-Lagrave, Caruana, Morozevich, and Pelletier complete the field
Biel / Bienne 2011 will take place July 18 – 29 in Switzerland. The initially announced field was Magnus Carlsen (NOR, 2815), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA, 2731), Vugar Gashimov (AZE, 2760), Fabiano Caruana (ITA, 2714) Alexander Morozevich (RUS, 2694) and Yannick Pelletier (SUI, 2587).
After Gashimov confirmed his participation with the team of Azerbaijan for the World Team Chess Championship, he is replaced by Alexei Shirov (ESP, 2721).
