Qf1+!
Qf1+ Kh4
Rf4+ Kg5
Qf5#
Black can get a draw by perpetual checks!
1. … Qf1+
2. Kh4 Qf6+!
3. Kh3 Qf1+ and draw 1/2-1/2
If
3. Qg5?? Re4+!
4. Bg4 Rxg4+
5. Kh3 Qf1+ checkmate!
Oh, what a mistake in my last post! Actually it is a simple mate in 5 for black!
1. … Qf1+
2. Kh4 Re4+
3. Kg5 Kg7!!
4. Rd6 f6+!
5. Rxf6 Qxf6+ checkmate!
3. Bg4 or 3. Qf4 gets checkmated faster!
Q:b6#
1..Qf1+
2. Kh4 Re4+
3. Kg5 Kg7
and curtains for White King
0-1
Let’s see:
1.Qf1+ Kh4 2.Re4+ and now:
1…Qf4 2.Qxf4+ Kh3 3.Qf1#
1…Bg4 2.Rxg4
1…Kg5 2.Kg2! and mate follows. For example:
2…Qb2+ (the same if Qa1+) 3.f6+! Qxf6+ 4.Qxf6#
and any other 2nd moves by black allow 3.f6#
1. Qf1+ Kh4 (only move)
2. Re4+ Kg5
(2. … Qf4 3. Rxf4+ Bg4 (gxf4 not allowed) 4. Rxg4#)
3. Kg7!!
It took it’s time before I saw this move!
Threats immediate f6# or Qf5# or even Rg4#. White can’t handle all 3 mate threats. Giving a check seems enforced now.
3. … Qb2+/Qh1+
4. f6+! Qxf6
5. Qxf6#
This is mate in 5, isn’t it?
… Q-f1+
K-h4 R-e4+
K-g5 K-g7
Then, if R-d7 (to stop … f6#), Q-f5 is mate
Oh, is the board reversed?
I thought it was a trick question.
Never mind.
