It’s Saturday Open Forum. A lot of things happened in the past week.
– GM Vallejo Pons soundly defeated GM Shirov to advance to Dos Hermanas final.
– My sister Judit will take on Topalov for 4 games at Dos Hermanas today. The winner will face Vallejo Pons in the final.
– The Grand Prix in Baku will begin this Sunday with big names like Carlsen, Mamedyarov, Radjabov, Svidler, Karjakin, Adams, Kamsky, Bacrot, etc.
– The USCF is again in a serious financial crisis. According to the financial head of the USCF, “on a year to date basis we are operating at a loss of $146,512 compared to a budgeted profit of $50,794……looking at our cash position today, we will suffer the consequences of the sale during the slow summer months and maybe for several more months into fiscal 2009.” That is nearly a $200,000 problem. This is what happens when we spend money frivolously while doing virtually nothing to raise revenues. In addition, there is absolutely no focus on marketing and promoting the USCF properly and positively.
– SPICE just launched a new website with FREE daily puzzles and FREE Web Chess play.

I think it’s hard to not address again the serious situation the USCF is in. Has there ever been a time in which the USCF was in such a dismal state of affairs and with so many people losing faith in it?
I doubt it.
It will take years to fix the USCF. In those same years, a new chess federation could be formed and…it’s time for it. Forget the USCF and concentrate on a new organization.
When the USCF can get rid of all the foreigners like Polgar and Truong, they’ll be in better shape. There’s nothing wrong with the USCF. We’re in good hands with Bill Goichberg, Randy Hough and Randy Bauer.

Laugherty wants to trust a professional politician? How fitting! Yeah, we must trust lawyers and politicians. Thanks for the laugh. Bauer lost his reelection bid badly. If it wasn’t for Susan’s credibility, he has no chance of being elected to the board. You make me laugh Laugherboy.
Credibility? Good for the USCF? How many members did Laugherty and his buddy Bauer sign up? How many tournaments did they organize? How much money did they raise for chess? How many national events did he attend? Just a bunch of talkers with no result.

The US of A has been built on equal opportunity and freedom. This visions gives us the competitive edge over other nations. Unfortunately that gives some chance to hear opinions of misfits like u as well. We will skip over your opinions and hope that you will go back home to read some elementary text books on progressive era, and come back when your opinions become more in line with our vision of future.

I fully concur with Brian Laugherty. We must attack Polgar daily until she quits the USCF. We need to protect our turf at any cost. Polgar is free to back to Hungary and promote chess there. We support Goichberg, Bauer, Hough and Berry. They’re the face and true spirit of the USCF.

I agree with what you’re saying. The board is largely composed of idiots, and Susan certainly does deserve thanks for all she’s done.
But I would suggest that your comments might have more of an impact if you wrote more normally. Try whole sentences with capital letters instead of this strung-together lowercase stuff.
To close the borders? That has got to be the most ignorant comment I have seen on this blog! Where are you from? Where is goichberg, hough and bauer from?! The United States is a nation built on immigrants!! My mothers parents came to the U.S. in the 1920’s from Austria and my fathers parents came to America in the late 1920’s from Czechoslovakia! Susan Polgar is an official U.S. citizen! Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in Austria, he is now governor of California. Is he a foriegner also? Get an IQ would you please you bootlicker!

Now, to “Close the borders,” I was born in Kentucky. Yet, I guess you also believe that I shouldn’t have married my wife because of where she was born? She is a critical care physician and does a lot of good for society.

I find such remarks absolutely insulting and find your beliefs to be based on pure irrantion emotion. You have no logic to support any argument you have posted and, regardless of what you think, want, believe, or whatever….
You will never live in an America that has “closed borders.” I believe you post these silly remarks merely to stir up trouble and get attention.
Furthermore, you will not get rid of GM Polgar. She has proven over and over that she is a fighter and you will never bully her from her position. She does more for chess than all of the USCF combined, in my opinion.
I agree with the anon earlier that everyone should just ignore this person and if we want to discuss how to repair the USCF, then let us do so…and just ignore this person’s pre-pubescent bickering and insults.

I am a firm believer that GM Polgar and many well known American GM’s and IM’s could form a new American chess federation and it would succeed. Then, you see the end of the USCF. We’re already seeing the beginning of the end.
You know that you cannot bully GM Polgar and her supporters. She will not quit due to your bullying tactics. She has proven that she can successfully build chess organizations…just look at the success of SPICE.
Yes, I sincerely hope that her along with other American GM’s and all those disgusted with the USCF, will begin a new organization that truly works for the betterment of chess in the U.S.

The USCF is beyond help. Goichberg has been around 4-5 decades. Look at the difference between CCA and the USCF. CCA makes money and the USCF loses money. He has no problem spending USCF money for his own agenda. I would prefer to see the USCF die and start a new federation.
Mr. Goichberg, Bauer and Hough are men of integrity. They’ve done a great job running the USCF. They’re true Americans and they care about the USCF. Polgar and Truong should just stick to running SPICE and the SPF. I’d like to see Brian Lafferty, Donna Alarie and Harry Payne replace Polgar, Channing and Truong on the board.
You are not going to prove your silly case at this site. Why waste your time? You’re not going to get rid of Susan. She’s there and she will fight you in every area in which your group is wrong.
You blame but do not explain why the USCF is in such terrible financial problems. You don’t explain why membership is dropping at an alarming rate. You are NOT explaining why so many American GM’s are disgusted at the USCF.

So, genius, explain how you would repair the USCF without using the phrase “true American” and anything related to someone born in another country.

Explain to the world how you can bring the USCF back to a profitable organization, fix it’s reputation amongst American GM’s, raise membership numbers, without blaming people.

In order for the uscf to be a top notch federation, we must elect Brian Lafferty, Donna Alarie, Harry Payne, Brian Mottershead, Hal Bogner and Sam Sloan. They’re honest. They’re well respected in the chess community. They represent the true America. This federation doesn’t need a bunch of foreigners with strange names running the show.
It is fairly simple to disable postings from anonymous users. Why not do so?
