Wesley So is showing the world his enormous talent at the World Cup by advancing to round 4. Judit and Karjakin even up their matches. Only 6 of the 16 matches have been decided after 2 games. The other 10 matches are heading to the Rapid and Blitz playoff tomorrow.

I think Judit can win the rapid. So will go to the semifinal.
Is it possible that lil sister, is much stronger than the top guys right now as a 2700 female than some guys raised in russia at 2700+ with all the extra help? Why r the top guys suddenly being thrown off their HORSES? Whats the word in Siberia down younder?
What do you think are the chances of Wesley So? Which style of play does he resembles? Thanks…

“Why r the top guys suddenly being thrown off their HORSES? “

Great pic!
What do you think about Nakamura’s win in Norway?
In your opinion, what does the future hold for Wesley So?
Both Chucky and Kamsky thought that So was ‘so-so’ and got bitten! I wish the young lad further success. As for Judith wonderful job on Boris and I sincerely do hope she gets through the rapids as well.
Wesley is enornously talented but he’ll hit a ceiling when the big boys realize who he is and starts to prepare explicitly for him. He needs a second and/or a coach for him to break into Top 10/World Championship territory.
The word among those who have looked closely at Wesley’s games is that he is tremendous in the opening and his tactics are off the scale. But his technique still needs a lot of work. Hence the need for a second or coach.
Here’s to Wesley, a great chess player and an even nicer person!
Wesley So has a bright future. My feeling is he has a chance to be an elite player for years to come. He has the talent. However, there are some parts of his game which need improvement if he wants to be consistent and get to the top 10-20 in the world. As I mentioned on ChessGames.com, I will not discuss those areas in public because I do not want his opponents to exploit his weaknesses. I will offer my opinion at the right moment.
Best wishes,
Susan
This is what my country (government) has to offer to Wesley or even to any aspiring chess players here in the Philippines.
Quoted from Wesley’s mother:
Greetings to all. Just to update you about Wesley So’s World Cup (participation): 1. Ticket: None yet. According to Wesley last night, PSC (Philippine Sports Commission) wants to pay only 30%. 2. His visa processing: We paid P8, 000 on our own. 3. Allowance: None yet 4. Allowance for Hotel/Food: None also. Wesley discussed with me and his sister about his disappointments. He gave his best, but our country did not. It’s a pain to see a son demoralized on the situation. I got teary-eyed, secretly, after hearing from this kid… As parents, we will try our best for him. He is lucky to have BW who unselfishly supports him. Sincerely, Leny So (mother of Super GM Wesley So) originally posted from chessgames.com
My sympathy to this humble and hardworking lad.
So who eventually shouldered his fare and allowances?
