Gabriel Sargsyan continues to be among the leaders

YEREVAN, JULY 10, ARMENPRESS: Armenian grandmaster Gabriel Sargsyan in the third round of international chess tournament which takes place in Greek city Retimno defeated chess player from Ukraine Vitally Sivuk and gained three points from three possible. He kept his palce among the leaders of the tournament.

During this match he played with white figures. At the next round his opponent will be g. Stani from India.

170 chess players take part in the tournament.

Gabriel Sargsyan was a member of the gold-medal winning Armenian team at the chess Olympiads in 2006 and 2008 and at the World Team Chess Championship in 2011. Sargsyan was born in Yerevan on 3 September 1983 and was taught to play chess by his grandfather when he was 6. He won the World Youth Chess Championship (under 16) in 1998. In the same year he become an international master.
