This is a picture of visitors looking at rare chess sets at an exhibition showing gifts offered to Soviet leaders by citizens and foreign leaders in Moscow.
The blooper is surprising coming from a major chess country like Russia. Can you spot the blooper?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
White square is not in the lower right-hand corner ;)))
right down the back of the room comming out of the toilet is kramnik
THe white square IS in the right hand corner on the board in the Foreground..the other boards…who can tell…theres ironman strapped to what seems to be a planet..though I.m not sure thats a blooper per say..the only thing I see that MIGHT be a blooper is that the board in the foreground seems to have two sets of white pieces…
White vs white…Sorry..thats all I can see….its even hard to make out the pieces..
This is proof that all Russians cheat! They dont even know how to set up a board without secret ear pieces.
Now we finally have a grandmaster that can prove this!
“THe white square IS in the right hand corner on the board in the Foreground”
Then the pieces are wrongly set;)
Anon,
I don’t know which set you’re looking at but the board in the foreground has the black square in the lower right-hand corner.
It is indeed a blooper as what would you call such thing? Oh, you meant a mistake.
The white queen is on the wrong color.
my friend hoddy from down under painted a white h1 square black – he is – as i can tell you – not only an ardent worshipper of mick jagger and the rolling stones, but also a leading chair member of the “league against russian’s cheating for Kramnik” – please forgive him – of course, he went too far here 😛
a smirking Vohaul ^^
It’s really not that clear to me whether the board is setup correctly or not. That’s why these sets are rare, no one can tell the pieces apart or even what the color is supposed to be. The blooper is obviously that the woman looking through the window is wearing white after Labor Day.

@last anonym – please, please, please send me the mirror (or give me the appropriate link) which can turn white to black squares – i’m sure, Bill Gates would go green with envey… ^^
lol, mark m
In the two nearest boards, its clear that the board is the wrong way round. It should be white in the bottom right corner. The nearest two boards are clearly incorrectly set up.
Who cares what the colors of the squares are? The pieces themselves?
are my eyes playing tricks or are pieces of both sides the same color on the first board?

Should the Queens be larger than the Kings?
Come on, put us out of our misery Susan…
It amazes me how often the board is set up sideways, not only by retailers, but frequently in advertisements as well. They use a chess set as a prop to give the scene “an intellectual air” and then get it wrong at least 50% of the time.
Wake up citizens, it’s all secret code (courtesy of ex-KGB):
black on right Moscow tight
king on queen push the (counterfeit) green
how do you know that the negative isn’t reveresed?
