The RSSU School Champions Cup, part of the 12th International RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2016, was concluded on 6th February at the Russian State Social University. The competitions were held in the age groups U9, U11, U13 and U15, for boys and girls.
In the U9 Boys group Gleb Pidluzhny (Klaipeda, Lithuania) celebrated the victory with a brilliant result (9 of possible 9 points). Each of Vladislav Dudarev (Novosibirsk) and Denis Grunin (Korolev) scored 7,5 points; Dudarev became second according to the additional index.
In the same age group of the Girls tournament the gold belongs to Ayaulym Kaldarova (Shykment, Kazakhstan) with 8 points. Daria Zaytseva (Dolgoprudny) with 7,5 points clinched the second place. And Samra Gasymova (Fizuli, Azerbaijan) with 7 points closed the group of winners.
In the U11 Boys tournament Maxim Kolchin (Nizhny Novgorod) finished first with 8 points. Miron Makhlin (Moscow), Bulat Gabitov (Kazan) and Maxim Zhukov (Kstovo) with half a point less remained behind the leader; according to the additional index Maklin was ranked second, and Gabitov third.
Maria Yakimova (Kazan) with 7,5 points won the gold in the U11 Girls group. Ksenia Pargesyan (Moscow) with 7 points took the second place and according to the additional index outran Margarita Ershova (Naberezhny Chelny).
In the U13 Boys tournament Evgeny Dolgikh (Surgut) and Petr Tyapkin (Saratov) scored 7,5 points each; Dolgikh became the winner of the tournament according to the additional index. Four participants were half a step behind, the best additional index allowed Artem Lukyanenko (Moscow) to clinch the third place.
Alexandra Afanasyeva (Moscow) became first in the U13 Girls tournament as she scored 7,5 points. Five chess players with half a point less were behind the leader. Marta Voskresenskaya (Surgut) became second, and Tatiana Larina (Moscow) – third according to the additional index.
In the U15 Boys tournament Vasily Barkhanov (Moscow) with 7,5 points was the first at the finish. Vladislav Tebenkov (Leningrad region) and Dmitry Kirillov (Ivanovo) scored 7 points; the best additional index granted Tebenkov with the second place.
The clear first place in the senior girls group belongs to Yulia Kondakova (Perm) with 7 points. Zarina Shafigullina (Naberezhny Chelny), Galina Krapivina (Perm) and Sofia Perch (Yaroslavl) were half a point behind the leader; the coefficient provided Shafigullina with the second place, and Krapivina – with the third.
The winners of the respective age groups will go to the 2016 European School Chess Championships (Kallithea, Greece, June 16-26).
