Draw?
Draw?
No, White wins. It’s pretty straightforward except for one specific line in which White plays one of those “what?!?!” moves.
I predict 1. Rg7! should win.
There are two tricky moves white has to find after different black answers to assure the win and therefore g7 is the only square for the rook e.g. 1. Rf7?, Re/d1! or 1. Rb7?, Kc2!
1. Rg7, Rd1 2. Rg1!!, Rxg1 3. a7
or 2. -, h3 3. Rxd1+, Kxd1 4. a7, h2 a8Q protecting h1.
1. -, Kb2 (c2/d2) 2. Rg2+, Kb3 3. Ra2!!
I hope all the queen vs rook (+ pawns) endgames are won as I can’t figure out anything better for white. 🙂
Best wishes from Germany
Jochen

imho there are two specific lines with “what?!?!” moves 🙂
Jochen,
Your usual solid analysis. I found 2.Rg1!! but didn’t explore the other line with 3.Ra2!!
imho there are two specific lines with “what?!?!” moves 🙂
Now that you’ve pointed it out, imho, also.
