The Chess Moves II Alaska Cruise will take place from August 19 – 26, 2006. It is basically sold out and we expect a fantastic cruise with lots of chess excitement. I am very excited about this cruise to beautiful Alaska.

The trainers include the reigning US Champion Alex Onischuk, former US Open Champion Alex Stripunsky, former US Champion Larry Christiansen, Captain of the 2004 US Women’s Silver Medalist Olympiad team Paul Truong and me.

One of the stops will be Juneau, Alaska on Monday, August 21. I will visit the local chess club to give a lecture + Q&A session. It is wonderful to see that chess is being appreciated everywhere! If you live in Juneau, contact the local chess club for the exact time and location.

I like this type of cruise very much. It is a lot of fun and chess friends can hang out and enjoy the best of everything for a week. I think that the whole thing is run very well by Captain Neil. The destinations are fantastic. The onboard chess activities and lectures are very good. The ship is magnificent. The food … what can I say … is not Jenny Craig. There are also a lot of on board physical activities to burn off the calories.

That is why I recommended my friends Alex Stripunsky, Alex Onischuk and their wives to join me this time. GM Larry Christiansen and his wife loved it so much that they are coming back this time too.

For future cruises (chess and many other activities), please check out the Geek Cruises Official website here. Hope to see many of you on future cruises!
