After 2 highly successful chess presentations in Austin, TX to countless state educational legislatures and superintendents, SPICE and Texas Tech University have received unanimous votes to begin pilot chess programs in selected schools in the state of Texas. We will then present the important statistics at a meeting next year for a final green light.
If everything goes according to plan, this will for sure help chess in the schools in Texas grow by ten folds. When the final step is finally approved, this will be the biggest chess project ever for any state in the United States. Then SPICE can use a similar model to help other states and countries advance their chess in the schools programs.
This proposal is very unique because it is designed to benefit the children while eliminating bureaucracy, politics, and wasteful spending. Schools do not need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to create sound and well run chess programs. In fact, my idea is if schools follow the suggested plans, they will either break even or even possibly generate additional revenues.
