Aiken, SC

It’s time to meet your match.

The Police Athletic League has successfully tried its hand at baseball, football and basketball, so now its on to the world of chess.

“It’s a thinking man’s game,” said Sgt. Wilson Dandy with Aiken Public Safety. “It teaches you strategy.”

In additional to players, Aiken Public Safety’s Police Athletic League is looking for volunteers to assist with a chess program.

On Tuesday March 20, Public Safety is inviting anyone interested in assisting with the program or registering to play the game to go to 1248 Crosland Drive in Crosland Park for an introductory meeting.

Children ages 7 and older are invited to register.

Volunteers must undergo a background check.
