The key move is 1. f6, with four possible replies from Black: Kh6, Kh8/g8, Kf8, Kxf6. Uh, should i write all of them? Well, trust me, i’ve analyzed them, i know in some variations the queen will stay there as it is and the knight will mate from e8 or f7.
f6+ wins for White
eg 1. f6+ Kf8
2. Qa8 mate
or 1. f6+ Kg8 or Kh8
2. Qe8+ Kh7
3. Qxf7+ Kany
4. Qg7 mate
or 1. f6+ Kh6
2. N-f5+ Kh7
3. Nxd6 dis check Kh6
4. Nxf7 mate
I’d start with f6+ and lure the king out (Kxf6 is forced). Looks dangerous for black. Or is there anything more forcing?!
1. f6+
1. f6+ Kxf6 (else Q-e7/e8-xf7-g7)
2. Nf5 Kg6
3. Nxd6+ Kg7 (Kf6 Ne8#)
4. Qe5+ etc.
1-0
Nd5! then f6+ +-
I have a hard time seeing any move other than 1. f6 to clear the way for the knight and/or the queen:
1. f6 Kf6
2. Nf5 with the threat of Qe7
2. ….Bf2
3. Qe7 Kg6
4. Qg5 Kh7
5. Qg7#
If, instead, black tries
2. ….Kg6
3. Nd6 Kh6 (Kg7 4. Qe5+)
4. Nf7 Kg7
5. Ng5 with mate soon to follow on the naked king.
In this line, I see no adequate defense after white’s second move.
If black declines the f-pawn
1. f6 Kh6 (threatens Qh5)
2. Nf5 Kg6
3. Nd6 Kf6 (Kh6 4. Nf7)
4. Ne8#
1. Nd5 first doesn’t seem to work, in light of 1…Kh6 threatening Qh5+ with probably at least a draw (after 2.f6).
More promising seems f6+ right away, with various threats. Phil
Hi,
Would it be possible to have someone point me to fen diagrams of chess problems? I play with the United States Braille Chess Association. I’d like to improve my chess playing and help my fellow blind players improve, too.
Hi,
Do you know where to get FEN diagrams of chess problems? I’d like to help fellow US Braille Chess Association members improve their chess playing. There are very few materials in either audio or Braille format. Since we can play chess with adapted chess sets as well as anyone else, it’d be great to get more material to help the members learn.
