North Shore Chess Center Schedule of Events

Beginning this week we will be hosting our weekly series of events at the North Shore Chess Center.

On Thursday night we will have a thematic tournament – hence the name ‘Thursday Night Thematics’. After registration we will democratically decided upon a specific series of opening moves that everyone must play! Registration is at 7pm with the first round at 7:30pm

Friday night will see a G/5 + 3/sec increment blitz tournament. Registration is at 7pm with the first round at 7:30pm

Saturday will be a busy day with a Kids Only Training session from 9am-11:30am. The focus will be U1000 rated kids. Then starting at 2pm until 4:30pm we will have an all ages training session which will be geared towards players from 1400-1800. Finally at 7:30pm we will begin a G/20 + 10/sec increment quad tournament with registration at 7pm.

On Sunday we will have an All Ages Training session from 9-11:30am focused towards players from 1000-1400. At 1pm we will begin a G/60 + 10/sec increment quad tournament. Registration at 12:30pm

Membership to the North Shore Chess Center is required for all events! All events are $20 with a $5 discount to yearly members.

The address of the North Shore Chess Center is 5500 West Touhy Ave Suite A, Skokie, IL 60077. You turn on Linder Street from Touhy. The parking lot entrance is on Linder, but the Chess Center faces Touhy. We are directly across the street from Pet Smart. We are about 3 blocks west of the Holiday Inn on the same side of the street.

US Game 60 and Game 30 National Chess Championships

On October 23 and 24, 2010, the North American Chess Association, will host the 2010 US Game-60 and Game-30 National Chess Championships. This will be the third year that we will have brought these two national chess championships to the Chicago area. Below you will find the information for each event.

Additionally we will have 1 scholarship per event donated by Texas Tech University and the SPICE Program valued up to $36,000 each to the top eligible player in the Open section.

United States Game-60 National Chess Championships
