On June 6th, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov participated in the opening of a new chess club in Moscow. It is located in the former southern river station of Moscow which is controlled by the city shipping company and executes two functions: Panda City Mall for children and passenger ships moor here to take on water, supplies, etc. The construction of a huge children’s entertainment centre, Disney Park, will soon start in the near vicinity. The leadership of Panda City kindly responded to the FIDE President’s proposal and allocated space for a chess club on the ground floor.
It is also planned to construct a playing hall with 2,000 square metres area for holding large tournaments and chess school under the auspices of FIDE.
