Kerry, if Nd5 right away, then Black plays Qg5, threatening mate, and White has hanging pieces all over the board.
I prefer 1.QxRc8

Qxc8! Rxc8 Nd5 Qb7 Rxc8 Qxc8 Ne7+ Kf8 NxQ Bxe2 and white has a Rook and a Knight vs Bishop and Knight
after Qxc8, Bxe2 and White has the advantage but Black can fight on.

now up the exchange. with pressure on a7 pawn. so if
Re1 Bc4 attacking the pawn on a2.
then
Rd1 threatens mate so Bd5
e4 wins the bishop and the game. NO it does not. lets see.

Rd8+ Be8 holds a bit.
Nd6 Ke7
Rxe8+ Kxd6 and the rook will win some pawns. for example white could win the a7 pawn and move the rook to b file to keep the king out. and march the a pawn to queen.
of course I am using a board and moving pieces around on the board. not so easy during a game.
I dont consider myself to have this puzzle correct. I went into the comments too soon. and then worked harder at it.
