I recently posted this trivia: https://chessdailynews.com/detective-eyes/.
However, no one got the answer right so far. Therefore, I am giving you more clues. This picture above was taken in this city in 1964 and the previous picture was taken in 1966.
Can you name the famous city in this picture and how did you come up with the answer?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Chicago
John
I suspect it is Chicago as from some internet research the west suburban shriners club meets in Western Chicago.
When I clicked on the link for the first picture, I thought we might have been talking about Washington DC. Clues- the high number of buses and the year 1966. The picture could be from the bus protests of the 60’s where ‘blacks’ refused to ride the buses.
Also the Virginia sign was a clue as Wash DC is located in Virginia.
Rome ?? Baghdad ??
Susan,I could read in you pic “West suburban shrine club” and glooging those words found this website:
http://www.westsuburbanshrineclub.org/
Just on the top of the site you can read “Medinah Shrines in Chicago´s western suburbs”
So it is Chicago.Enought?
Its Gotham City!
Boston
Saint louis
Indeed, there seems to be no “West Suburban Shrine Club” in Boston, the city I forgot when mentioning NY, Toronto (ruled out by the buses probably) and “east in its time zone”. Moreover, for Google west suburban by itself, 9 of the top 10 hits are from Illinois, plus 1 from Minneapolis. Ah, there is a West Suburban Shrine Club (or “Shriner’s Club”) in the Minneapolis area: here or here (PDF)…
I wonder what was most distinctive to Chicago in the original photo—? The historical detail about the buses may be key.
Susan I did not give the answer away somebody I guess trying to make me look bad posted my name, unless its a coincidence.
Detroit? Because there are a lot of Muslims in the Michigan area.
It’s Chicago. Look at the sign in the farthest-back part of the road–it’s in front of the Chicago Theater. That sign is very emblematic for the city…the print, the shape of the sign, everything.
darin, excellent job! I was not sure if anyone would notice the sign all the way in the back.
garvin and jose, excellent job as well with the west surburban shriner club clue.
I think this is the most difficult trivia to date 🙂
Well done everyone!
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
If that’s the most difficult trivia to date, I’d like something more intriguing 🙂
Without looking at the comments, just by downloading and magnifying the photo, I could get the two clues involved.
Using a search engine and the clues one can get pretty easy to this link:
http://westsuburbanshrineclub.org/History-WSSC-parade.htm
Neither clue is suficient by itself I guess, but put together… The hints confirm each other.
Give us more please 🙂

You all got it wrong. Here is the answer at the top of the page.
The shriners used to bring the circus to chicago. My dad used to take us to the circus. It would be mom dad and 4 boys. it was indoors. What an experience. It was a happening. Nothing like that big live circus.
It was indoors and you could smell all the animals etc. The vendors walked around selling all kinds of stuff like whole peanuts in shells in bags and popcorn hot dogs cokes etc. They also sold live cameleons.
We would get up on the high deck and look down on the acts. Live tigers in cages. elephants lots of horses.
they would swing from the high wires and flip people between swings. It was all quite a show. All live and great for me as a little kid.
The clown acts were great.
I went approximately in 1950 a few times. probably before and after 1950. Great memories.
All kids should get to a great big circus.
