I think Rh5 will be an amazing move
Without calculating all variations, Rh5 looks good.
R-h5!
1. Rh5
if Rxh5 2.Rd8 mate
if Bxh5 White has time for 2.Nc6 threatening 3.Rxa7 mate.
Other moves for Black seem equally hopeless.
1.Rh5! prevents mate on h1, if 1..Rxh5 2.Rd8# and if 1..Bxh5 2.Nc6 and black can’t defend from Rxa7#
Rh5
1. Rh5 Rc8
2. Nc6
1-0
I don’t know about white, but black seems to be quite okay after:
1. … Rh1+
2. Rd1 Rxd1#
🙂
How about 1. Rh5 Bxh5 (not Rxh5 because of 2. Rd5#) 2. Nc6 followed by either Rd8 or Ra7#. Any rook move instead of 1 … Bxh5 loses also.
Yeah, …Rh1+ is what white must avoid. So desperate times call for desperate measures.
But notice the back rank weakness.
1. Rh5!! Rb8 (or any other square)
2. Nc6 and black cannot avoid mate.
1. Rh5! R/B x h5
2. Nc6 mates
rh5
rh5
1. Rh5. Bxh5
2. Nc6 1-0
or
1. Rh5. Rxh5
2. Rd8#
Just Rh5 wins!
Rb8+
Get’s White out of immediate danger but far from safe? What’s the answer?
White wins after 1Rh5 threatening mate isnt it?
