Texas Tech Knight Raider GM Georg Meier and GM Le Quang Liem tied for 1st after 7 rounds. They were declared co-champions and shared the money prize. However, they had to engage in a playoff for a Swiss watch, which obviously could not be divided.

In the first 5 minute playoff game, Georg got white in the drawing of color. They drew.

The two players then switched colors to play a 3 minute game. They drew again.

The third and final game was an Armageddon with white having 5 minutes and black getting 4 minutes and draw odd. Liem got white in the drawing of color. The game came all the way to the endgame and Liem lost on time with Georg having 8 seconds left.

Congratulations to both! The biggest surprise of the blitz tournament was the performance of 13 year old Kayden Troff. He shared 3rd with GMs Sebastien Feller and Anatoly Bykhovsky, ahead of Leinier Dominguez, scoring 5 points (in 7 games) against 6 GMs and 1 IM (beating GMs Sebastien Feller, Ray Robson, Eugene Perelshteyn, and IM Marc Arnold while drawing GM Andre Diamant, losing only to GM Le Quang Liem).
