JPS Annual Chess Tournament Gives Brain Power

Jackson Public Schools hosted it’s annual chess tournament Friday.
More than 100 elementary students in the “Open Doors Gifted Education Program” competed in the program’s annual chess tournament.
It was held at the Mississippi e-Center of Jackson State University.
School leaders encourage the game. They says it’s an excellent tool for teaching critical thinking An awards ceremony was also held in four divisions for second through fifth graders.
