White wins the house with
1. Rxf8+ Kxf8
2. Qh8+ Qg8
3. Bh6+ Ng7
4. Bxg7+ Ke8
5. Qxg8#
I signed on to give my analysis and BAM…tyler b has the solution already here for all to enjoy.
Looks good…..Susan….what ever happened to Andrei Sokolov? I heard he hit the bottle too much but thats just people talking. After he lost the candidates match to K Spragett from Canada I never heard from him again. Do you know what happened to this guy?
Susan, thanks for the puzzles. I usually look at the problems you post and write down my analysis on a piece of paper and then check the problem against the analysis already posted and later using Shredder. I suspect there are a lot of us who do this and never post our analysis here.
For this problem, I was fortunate not to need to write it down on paper.
oh, yeah, tyler’s solution was better than mine. i stopped when i found
1. Rxf8+ Kxf8
2. Qh8+ Qg8
3. Bxe7+ Kxe7
4. Qxg8
Oh dear!!, This position look like someone’s position yesterday, castle is exposed while black has minor piece up. Does white sacrifice something to arrived this ??

Come, come, Mr. Anonymous, Why be insulting? This is a friendly website. My screen name was a choice used after I found a military chess acquaintance on Susan’s blog. It’s meaning is: Quartermaster First Class Todd R. Forbes, US Navy, Retired. As to the solution…mine was the same as tyler b. Why have two identical solutions in a row?
Todd,
I think it was just a fingerslip — probably no offense intended.
