Final round for all the marbles! Judit and Mamedyarov are leading with 3.5 / 5. Topalov is at 2.5 / 5. Sokolov is out of it with just .5 / 5.
Topalov will have White against Judit while Mamedyarov will have White against Sokolov. If I am a betting person, I would bet that Topalov will play 1. e4. What will happen when a lioness faces a tiger? How will it end? Sorry but I have to be biased here and root for my baby sister. Go Judit!
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
So she is your “baby sister”
As a betting man Shaki has the advantage. He should beat Sokolov and Judit has a much more difficult opponent to beat. Judit needed to play Shaki a little more carefully yesterday. She gave away her advantage.
I really like the way Kramnik plays. I used to like the way Topalov plays but now I see the big advantage in Kramnik’s play. Judit should study his approach to chess a little more carefully. There are some advanced ideas in his strategy.
I no longer appreciate the throw the kitchen sink at the opponent method that Judit used yesterday. She has to mature her approach if she is going to become the first world champion who is a woman.
Anon, you sound like a moron. Grow up.
We’re biased too, Susan. Sok szerencsét kivánok, Judit!
That’s a tough one. My two favorite players tied in a battle for a win. A draw won’t suit any of them.
So I have to choose ;-(
Well ….
Go Judit, go for first !
Lyudmil Antonov
Sofia, Bulgaria
both players have to go for a win, so i guess a Najdorf, but a strange line… ^^
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.g4 Nc6 7.g5 Nd7 8.Be3 e6 9.h4 Be7 10.f4!? (Topalov likes pawn moves a lot, just his new style)
and because even the most faithful Topalov fan (lantonov) is with Ms. Judit Polgar today, i bite the bullet and will be with Topalov …
:))
i’m sure it will be a great match!
sincerly
Judith next game should be more to her liken..yesterdays game was not that easy… her opponent was kept on his toes throughout the game and played very well….
Topalov also could not afford to blunder in his game and eventually won a hard fought game.( two wins in a row now)
I like Topalov and I like Judith…But as I have thee daughters and have always told them to never fear competition against the men…so this time I hope Judith can beat him again ..or at least get a draw…..It will be no shame to her if she loses after all she is playing Topolov (no easy task.)
Good luck Judith and remember to use both sides of your brain for this game..and your sisters and father are very proud of you
To sac or not to sac, that is the question — for both players!
Seriously though, I hope Judith crushes Cheatalov.
Let’s hope Topalov tries too hard, and Judith pulls an Ali on him.
Mamedyarov will probably get AT LEAST a draw tomorrow. My guess is Judit and Topalov draw.
I remember an M-Tel master off-ballanced game where Judit had material advantage vs pair of bishops for Topa and the game ended in an exciting draw (yes, it might sound like oxymoron, but is was exciting). I ‘ll predict the same today. I root for Topa and Cheparinov.
WHAT?? Postny-Cheparinov .5-.5 at move 12???? This is disgrace for both of them.
Judit is incredible! I like Judit win the competition! its the best.
kises and hugs.
Cheparinov is not responsible. He is black and his oponent chooses to play the exchange of the Slav. What on earth can he do but draw. And by the way he will be first with this.
Also I was pretty sure that Topalov would go for 1.d4 Polgar does not play the Slav and I am sure that Topa had analyse the Nimzo for the Kramnik match but did not use it… While he clearly had not prepared 1.e4…
A final interesting remark is that that far 8/10 games were desicive! Amazing persentage for this level. well done to all!
I just hope Judit’s bladder holds, else Topalov might pull a toilet gambit on her… ;-]
Seriously, I root for Judit – she’s done it once, she can do it again.
After 18 moves I like Judit position. She had a strong pair of Knights, and her Queen and white Bishop are threathening King’s side. This is the FEN:
2r1r1k1/pbq2ppp/1p2pn2/8/P1PP2n1/2Q3P1/1B1NBP1P/R3R1K1 b – – 2 18
Wauv, h5 :o)
Seems like GM Polgar is playing for
the win !
This is the reason we love Judit.
Game over good outcome well done Judith….Congratulations
Playing Topolov Must be like facing a Category 5 Cyclone (extremely dangerous with widespread damage)
Topalov a real chess player plays to win
(no boring draw stuff from him)… Great sportsmanship again..
This game was a real nerve-wracking treat and left all of the GM IM and Chess Fans watching this game on ICC in the dark
Thanks Judith and Topolov for a great chess game
Your baby sister , mistress polgar?
