One million wishes for Viswanathan Anand
March 28, 2012
The defending World chess champion Viswanathan Anand, who has held the title since 2007, will be playing against Israel’s Boris Gelfand in May later this year in Russia to defend his crown.
To commemorate this historic occasion and to support Anand to successfully retain the World Championship title, the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association has decided to initiate “Wish Anand,Win Anand ( WAWA) campaign” and collect one million signatures from school children across the State.
More than 1200 schools have been approached to collect signatures. The collected wishes will be handed over to the champion before the event.

This match should never be played. Anand will wipe Gelfand off the board.
I’m a fan of Anand, but in important matches Gelfand has proved himself to be a very tough competitor! Anand himself does not underestimate Gelfand one little bit! It will be a tough match and I hope Anand will pull through. Also hope no ‘toilet-gate’ scandals! But then both these guys are gentlemen.
