It’s the amount of money the USCF wishes they could have 🙂
It’s certainly less significant than the amount possible positions on the chessboard.
It’s the current population of the U.S.
It’s the amount of money that could be raised if everyone donated $1.00 for a good cause.
Who would choose the “good cause?”
Hey…is Bill Gates a Chess player? Maybe he could donate some funds????
Americans have just always had a thing for nice, large, round err.. numbers..
lol @ anonymous. where u from?
If 18% of the adult population in the U.S. knows how to play chess (approximately 220 million adults) that means there are almost 40 million chess players in the country.
Oh, I know. Bush just told his 300,000,000th lie since taking office.
It’s not my rating, is it?
It’s Topalov’s. And Bill Gate
should certainly put 1.5M EUROs
to get a rematch between Kramnik
and Topalov. I missed the excitements generated during the match.
I believe the 300,000 th baby was born in the US today…if I recall what I heard on “Countdown” today while reading Hawking (luckily, I wasn’t also chewing bubblegum).
Billy-Jack
300,000,000?
Obviously, it must be the number of US citizens hoping to meet Susan.
Actually Gates is NOT into chess. His choice of strategy game is bridge.
i thought Bill Gates favourite game was Risk.
He previous a higher percentage of luck, than the occasional blunders given by your opponent in chess 😉
Does that figure include all the illegal aliens the US elite love so much…specially in the south? Truthfully I don’t think they have a clue how many people live in the US. But ok, 300 million is a nice round guess.
