Dear Susan,
Unfortunately I must tell you that the way in which you have attacked Wladimir Kramnik in the past days has tainted your image among your colleagues. This is a very sad state of affairs. On Chessbase all others signed the truthful letter. Yours was “neutral”, even though Wladimir Kramnik did nothing wrong. You accused him of mindgames. We can still see those posts on this homepage. Many people have commented on this. It is all very sad, and I hope you could bring yourself to apologising to him.
Sincerely yours,
a much disappointed colleague
Leaving superlatives aside, I find Kramnik’s positional and strategical winning games much more interesting than those aggressive ones of Topalov. That is the beauty of chess. You don’t have to be the aggressor to be better in chess. It gives you some consolation in this very harsh world. Maybe we all could learn something of this kind of playing and living.
Anonymous GM,
Obviously, you do not know me well enough. If you do, you would not make such a statement. I have been the most neutral person in this whole fiascao. In addition, you are more than welcome to write me at SusanPolgar@aol.com. Why stay anonymous?
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

Dear Anonymous GM,
Why don’t you have the courage to at least identify yourself? Perhaps you’re not even really a grandmaster?
Susan, this picture and the one of Topalov in the previous post seem to be of very low quality… are you accidentally saving them in a strange format? Perhaps your blog is SO popular now (especially with the anonymous members of the peanut gallery) that you have to save some $$$ on bandwidth?
just curious…
Kerry, the pictures are fine. I am just toying with the digital image program that I have to try to make them look like paintings 🙂
I am still working on improving the site 🙂
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

Susan, the pictures look great. Better than just regular photos. Keep up whatever you’re doing with them. They give your site a unique and pleasing look.
this picture and the one of Topalov in the previous post seem to be of very low quality…
Thanks kerry, funny. This reminds me another one: “I downloaded a file from the Internet, but I no longer need it, how can I return it back?”
I hesitate to go to Kramnik’s website. I tried it a week or two ago, and my computer got infected by some nasty, aggressive adware that I can’t seem to get rid of.
“Why stay anonymous?”
Answer from a fellow anonymous:
I trust, anonymouses should always be read in 99% black and white, meaning they(we) write in black, bt in reality think in white. What’s the purpose of being anonymous otherwise?
This is the only way I can explain so many insults and garbage language posted here. In fact, all of them (us) are probably nice and polite people in reality and if they disagree with you, I am sure that we are the best fans really.
Moderating the anonymouses, and ghost bloggers would improve the quality of this blog by 1000 times, with the number of fans staying the same.
How can I check if I am a chess genius, too? Is there a test somewhere?
Dear GM Susan Polgar,
It is clear that you have done much good work for the benefit of chess, and have tried very hard to help us understand the Kramnik Topalov Events.
For years I have noticed the approaches taken by you and your family, which provides a good example and model of what can be done!
I am now 70 years old, and have played chess for a long time as well as other things. I am a theoretical mathematician and computer scientist. I have what one might call variable intelligence (IQ about 170, only in later year, in earlier years IQ subnormal).
Many people find no difficulty in mental abuse that seems quite unnessary.
Some of us are at a disadvantage, no matter ones goal should be to see what can be done to overcome such things (even if not always successful). My dad spent my childhood trying to prove that I am not good enough. Sad, perhaps, yet one can still strive for success, even if they dont know what it will finally be.
In my mind the most remarkable thing that you have done is to remind us all that we are all important! There is no place for putting down others, even if they appear inferior.
I am one of the lucky few. Most of my life has been a battle to produce something that the rest of the world would see as worthy. Without appearing to be trying to overshadow others.
I have made friends of various important chessplayers and others.
At age 70 I have at last broken the barrier, it is now time for my chance. With the help of my wife, Kaisa, I no longer have to struggle to make money. It is like having a grant at some great university to do research, except I do not have to guarantee success. My dedicated research now is to prove theoretical results in computer science and mathematics if I can. Also now for the first time in my life I can take the time to see if I am good enough to become a chess master. I may not be good enough for any of these things, that does not matter, what matters is now I have a chance to try. Until age about 40 I was officially considered mentally retarded even though I had made a good living as a software consultant and managed to somehow get college degrees.
Above all, I have learned how important it is to respect anyone who is of good spirit, we are all good at something!
I like to identify myself with the main character in a science fiction story called: Flowers for Agernon (later made into a movie, I think called Charlie, Starring Cliff Robertson I think).
Even though many think Bobby Fischer is strange, I admire him very much. In his own way he tried to improve chess conditions for us all to benefit.
Other chess friends of mine I have enjoyed are: Isaac Kashdan, Lena Grumette, Jacqueline Piatigorsky, Herman Steiner, Larry Remlinger. I have also been friends of others that are notable. The best top people are often better behaved than others that feel unfulfilled perhaps. Of course Spassky is a gentleman and listened to anything I had to say, even though I could have been considered a nothing.
One time I had the job of baby sitting a young child while her dad was having conversation with my dad. We had a good time, she seemed delightful. Her name was Candice. Her dad conducted a radio show using a comical character called Charlie McCarthy. Her dad was know as Edgar Bergen.
Thanks, Ray Bagley
only reason for me to remain anonymous is i do not want to log in everytime i post something here.
posting as anonymous is much easier..
Web ettiquete: Any criticism from a person hiding behind “anonymous” should be ignored.
The poster’s lack of character is on display in such criticisms.
Mr. Anonymous certainly cannot be taken seriously when he claims to speak also for Susan’s “colleagues”. Get real.
Susan could consider disabling anonymous; but it would reduce the posting activity that all such web sites need.
An article in today’s USA Today listed a new phenomenon: successful libel lawsuits against blog posters who make unsupportable derogatory claims about others.
