Today is the 15th of May. There is no news from FIDE about the transfer of $935,000. The previous deadline was May 12 but it was extended to May 15 because of this request:
Date: 12 May, 2008.
To: FIDE President, Mr. Kirsan ILYUMZHINOV
Re: BID to hold match Kamsky-Topalov
Dear Mr. ILYUMZHINOV,
I would like to inform you because of bank technical reasons BID amount USD 935,000.00 will be designated on FIDE bank account May 15, 2008.Kindly ask you for understanding.
With Kindest Regards,
Oleksandr Chernenko,
Manager of GM Gata Kamsky
Does anyone have any update about this issue? Please feel free to post any breaking news. Thanks!
See FIDE site for more information. This whole bid is kind of shaky.
“bank sleep will follow within two bank days” LOL, my sleep will follow in two hours. They cannot even prepare a single page bogus document right. hahaha
what about: “sity Lviv” 🙂

If I might be so bold:
(This from chesspro.ru)
(Vasiliev has just asked Alexander Chernenko why he is putting up $950K for the K-T match)
Возможно, мой ответ покажется парадоксальным.
– My answer might seem paradoxical.
Я это делаю не только для того, чтобы поддержать Гату,
– This isn’t just to support Gata
(whom he manages)
но и для того, чтобы вернуть Львову его доброе шахматное имя.
(but also to restore Lviv’s good chess name.)
Это город, который дал миру Леонида Штейна, Виктора Карта, Александра Белявского, Адриана Михальчишина, Олега Романишина, Марту Литинскую, Зою Лельчук, я уж не говорю о Василии Иванчуке.
(This is a city which has given the world a Leonid Stein, a Viktor Kart, Alexander Beljavsky, Adrian Mihalcisin, Oleg Romanishin, Marta Litinskaya, Zoya Lelchuk – to say nothing of Vassily Ivanchuk.)
This Alexander Chernenko apparently made his fortune after the fall of the USSR in textbook publishing; now he’s apparently dealing in precious stones from Ghana. It appears to be a matter of national pride with him (he was once a correspondence candidate-master). Sounds on the up-and-up to me.
Chessbase is reporting that the bank guarantee was received by FIDE for a $750,000 prize fund match to take place in Lvov, Ukraine. More info is supposed to follow tomorrow.
