Why should students play Chess?

Chess is the world’s most fascinating game which can be played and enjoyed at all levels – a favorite through the centuries. Multiple studies have shown that learning chess throughout the school years improves competence in mathematics and other cognitive development. The practical application of the skills learned while playing chess are the same skills necessary for academic excellence and lifelong success. When students learn to play chess they are learning critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, strategic planning, pattern recognition, analysis, concentration, good sportsmanship, good decision-making. Many of the skills needed and practiced playing chess are the same skills required to do well academically…in short, CHESS MAKES YOU SMARTER!
