Of course. It’s a free bishop.
You don’t see this tactic too often: if qe7, then
qa1 2 kd2 qd1! 3 Kd1 bf3 4 K e1 or d1 rd1++
Rd1 checkmate
No white cannot win the bishop by
1.Qxe7.
Because of 1… Qxa2+ 2. Kc1 Qa1+
3. Kd2 Qxd1+! 4. Kxd1 Bf3
double-check! and both
5. Kc1 Rd1 mate
or
5. Ke1 rd1 mate.
I think that anonymous 10:12:00 must have been Laffarty given his chess skill.
You can’t take it. Qxa2; Qa1+; Bf3+, etc. mate next.
Duh.
Can – Yes, Should – No
of course you can’t take it, a 2700would not give a free piece! 😉
Definitely one of the nice ones!
Bu Xiagzhi is one talented hell of a chess player.
The bishop can’t be taken because it allows Black to execute the Reti-Tartakower trick.
Some add (I hope I do not oversee anything):
1. b3!?, Qe4?? 2. Qxe4, Bxe4 3. Re1+-
1. -, Qe8?! 2. Re1, Rd7 (or Kd7) 3. Bb5, Bc6 4. Bxc6 and white’s position looks better than the black one.
Best I think is 1. -, Qd7! (with idea of 2. Bc4, Qe6!) and black’s position is fine. Some nice line is 2. Rxd5?, Qxd5 3. Qxe7??, Rge8! -+ and white’s queen has no square to go!
Best wishes from Germany
Jochen
For Jochen:
On 1 b3 1..Qd7 brings a difficult
position:
1.. Qd7 2 Bc4 Qe6 3 Rxd5 Rxd5
4 Qxf3 with an slight edge for W.
However on 1 b3 the quiet move 1..Qc6
(2 Qxe7?? Rge8!) keeps a small avantage for B.

Correction of my previous
post.
1 b3 Qd7? is even worse for B:
2 Bc4 Qe6 3 Rxd5 Rxd5 4 Qf3 Rgd8
5 Re1 and B game collapses
On 1b3 Qc6 seems -+.
