Chess Master Sentenced For Sexual Assault

…Larimer county prosecutors struck a plea deal with 52-year-old Robert Snyder. He appeared in court Wednesday.
One victim, who was 11 years old at the time he was assaulted, wrote a letter about the incident.
“He broke all the trust my family and I gave him,” the victim wrote.
…Under the deal Snyder will serve two years in the county jail instead of prison and he must be involved in a sex offender intensive supervised probation for at least 10 years.

It is so sad that such things happen in this world. I hope that chess in American and the USCF will do everything possible to make sure that such a thing can never happen again.
He should get many more years than this.

The $*#$ defense attorney said “Snyder has already lost a lot”.
What a load of garbage. Snyder didn’t lose anything. He threw it away and in the process of doing so badly hurt 3 kids.
Throw him in the pen with a label on his shirt: “Child molester.” The other prisoners will mete out appropriate punishment. Then, castrate him to make sure he stays clean after they let him out.
Susan, you should not allow your blog to be a venue for the crude expression of sadistic fantasies of revenge upon this man. It is not worthy of you.

How could they possibly do that? Require a battery of psychological tests to anyone wanting to be a chess coach? They can do the obvious stuff, of course. Avoid anyone who has anything like this in their past, but that won’t be 100% effective.
it jail people know what you did when you get there. Inmates do paperwork, read newspapers, watch tv, guards talk, etc. life is not easy behind bars for child molestors.
This is an evil world! Just think of how that poor child and his family suffered in California in 1983, when they were innocent and Snyder got away with his crimes…it is no wonder he kept on being a preditor. He never got caught!…They should have thrown away the key, cause these sick child preditors never change. Just wait till he faces the Eternal Judge…GOD…I would not want to be in his shoes then!
I wish I would of known of this 1983 case I was a student of his in the 1980s I was 12 well anyway he never tryed anything with me. Maybe I wasn’t his type. lol. Believe me he’ll get his in county jail sex offenders have the worst time not only will inmates spread the word but guards too nobody likes a chester.
