Former USCF President Marinello just posted the following on the USCF Forums:

As Former USCF President, I would like to inform my friends and members of the chess community that I will be undergoing a kidney transplant on Tuesday, July 17 at the Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC.

In 2003, the same year that I became President of the US Chess Federation I was diagnosed with a kidney disease, which was later confirmed as IGA Nephropathy.

Next Tuesday thanks to the generosity of a friend, doctors will be performing a kidney transplant. If you need any information about my condition after the surgery please call my cell phone…

In August of this year, my term in the Executive Board will end after serving in the board for four years. It has been an honor to serve the chess community and I would like to thank all of you for the opportunity.

All the best,
Beatriz Marinello

I wish Beatriz the best for a full recovery and a long and healthy life.
