The Kramnik – Fritz battle will start tomorrow. Are you excited? Which match is most exciting to you?
– Kramnik versus Topalov
– Kramnik versus Leko
– Kramnik versus Fritz 10
– Kramnik does not excite me
– I cannot decide – Help me
I will offer my comments and analysis of game 1 tomorrow night. I will also bring you some pictures and video clips of the Budapest filming session tomorrow.
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Kramnik vs Leko must have been one of the most exciting matches Kramnik ever played …
D.K.
Topalov – Kramnik
Kramnik does not excit me. He is being the ‘toilette champion’
Kramnik doesn’t excite me at all. In fact, he’s boring.
I am interested in Topalov-Polgar (the blindfold match)
Kramnik vs. Anybody/-thing
defntly. not!
He´s just a double-dealer.
Fine matches are waiting for us in Elista next year.
Mr. Kramnik is not exciting? I find it exciting that nobody seems able to beat him in match play.
This includes Kasparov, clearly the greatest or at least strongest chess player in history.
Can’t be beaten? I’d say that’s pretty exciting. Criticizing the Champ is like criticizing Lance Armstrong. Was he not exciting too?
And I’m so sick of unproved and unfounded accusations of Kramnik cheating. Please, some respect for the Unified World Champion and some support for his battle with Fritz 10.
Mr. Kramnik is not exciting? Nobody can beat him in match play, not even Kasparov at the top of his game.
I’d say that was pretty exciting, from a sports fan persepective.
Please, some respect and support for our Unified World champ as he takes on Fritz 10.
sorry for leaving the same message twice. I am new to posting comments.
Apologies.
Larry Brown:
Mr. Kramnik is not exciting? I find it exciting that nobody seems able to beat him in match play.
Sorry, Mr Brown, but Kramnik has been beaten in matches by Kamsky and Shirov. Because of the second one he did not deserve the match for the world championship against Kasparov. His behaviour before and after this match (his unwillingness to defend his undeserved title against Kasparov or anybody else for a period of four years) shows that he ist not the integer and gentlemanlike personality that some people see in him.
Concerning “excitement” about Kramnik. I cant be excited about any of the personalitys of the current top players. Judging from the interviews I read, all of them apart from the now inactive Kasparov seem to be quite boring guys. No sparkling intellectuality or brillance at all. So all I can be excited about is their games. While Kramnik is a really strong player and has played a couple of beautiful games (like all players of his level), he also produces the highest rate of short draws of all top players current und present (I read in an article by Jeff Jonas that even Petrosian had a lower rate of (shoer) drawn games). Not much to be excited about.
sometimes i believe i’m in the wrong movie – many Kramnik haters here around – paired with lot of chess ignorance!
Kramnik’s chess is crystal like – clear and only boring for the blissfully ignorants. his chess is very efficient (as Leko’s chess is too – that’s why i enjoyed the Kramnik vs. Leko match) – and he is – besides Leko – the only chessmaster on this old rotten planet with the chance of a win against actual chess software …
i would be excited by a match of our beloved hostess vs. Kramnik – maybe she would see some “chess things” a little different afterwards – maybe not :))
btw – believe it or not: Kramnik’s over the career draw-rating is quite equal to Topalov’s over the career drawing rate …
PS: do the little “database” exercice by your own, if you do not believe me… ^^

Other than the games themselves, machine vs. Man matches have little interest for me. We know they surpass humans, and the disparity will only grow greater, so where’s the drama?
This match is just a commercial for Chessbase.
Now, what I’d like to see is a Fischer v. S. Polgar Chess960 match. 🙂
@hoddy – you are
1. wrong
2. lazy
3. biased
by the way – what do YOU think a “Hans guck in die Luft” is? a Dr. Gordon sitting next to you lying on your own couch, voicing a prayer for you under his breath to aid your recovery? stargazing?
^^ oh hoddy, hoddy …
vohaul,
your obvious flirty attitude is too well done for any of us to notice it. women greatly appreciate it.
please, stop using the internet. you ruin it for the rest of us.

I would like to see a Kramnik Anand match. that would be good.
Kramnik – Topalov .. real chess 🙂
I predict a win for Kramnik. Fritz has nothing more to prove, and rules for the match will help Fritz to forget this defeat 😉
With these kinda rules, the match is not that exciting. Kramnik sees the opening variations and their statistics!!!! How fake! He will just easily steer to drawns positions and draw almost every game…
i hope the computer wins outright!!!
Shell shock is close, utter despair is closer. Still, four more tests to go….. Harmiston might just work out where the wicket is by the fifth! Sorry, I know this is a chess blog but ….. to stretch a point …. people (soccer fans usually) sometimes call cricket boring, (and will often call chess boring), usually because they don’t understand it. I agree with Vohaul here – Kramnik’s play is fascinating, just because it’s not flashy and attacking doesn’t make it boring. I mean Hoddy, try explaining reverse swing to someone who doesn’t understand cricket and watch their eyes glaze over as they rapidly lose the will to live.
Gordon.
It is known that Miss Susan is not much a fan of Kramnik. So, I don’t expect a good comment here.
freitag,
Actually, I am big fan of Kramnik as a chess player. I have said that many times. I have all of his books. I love his opening repertoire and understanding of chess. I just do not agree with his attitude toward the chess community.
I am for the chess community first and me second. Kramnik is for Kramnik first and the chess community second. There is nothing wrong with it because he has no obligation to anyone but himself. However, I have no problem separating my appreciation for his talent.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar

The question of the day:
Will there be a point for Kramnik to go to the bathroom to use Fritz, against Fritz (:-)?
—————-
Seriously, for me the interest goes to Kramnik-Fritz10. Now that Kramnik is the world champ, this match could put an end to the “can a computer program defeat the world champion” issue, once and for all. Kasparov succeeded to plant enough doubt after getting beaten by Deep Blue, that it wasn’t a clean match.
Since this time the rules are heavily in favor of Kramnik, if Fritz ends up winning, the debate will be over forever.
Unless of course if Kramnik could convince Topalov to wait for him in the bathroom. Naaahh…..just kidding.
Gabir
KRAMNIK is the Actual Champion and
I would vouch for a match with ….well, who else is a fit match player around? Can’t think of no one.
ANAND? I love the guy but he’s no match player. If he stands a tie in classical time period against K I think THEN he will beat him in rapid play.
TOPALOV? Neither he is and unfortunatelly he will do anything to get a free point.
LEKO? He’s not fit right know. Although he could be and his chance he had.
JUDIT? I also love her and I think she should stop playing tours because she is a match player but she doesn’t know it yet. Really and I mean really I apologize to Judit for saying this and my heart is hurting so bad just to think she will get mad at me for saying this.
OTHERS? I don’t know, maybe KAMSKY will give a decent fight with a good chance.
