1. nd8 rh6+ 2. kb5 rb5+ 3 …. 4. kb3 rh3+ 5. kc2 rh4 (by this point it repeats a famous study where c8R wins. Actually, I thought that was the solution but now i see that here we dont have such an option). 6. kd3 rc3+ ….. 10. ke7 rh7 11. nf7 +-

Would this work?
1. Nd8 Rh6
2. Kc5 Rh5
3. Kd6 Rh6
4. Ke7 Rh7
5. Nf7
White wins
1. Nd8 Rh6+ {forced}
2. Kb5 Rh2 {The wK cannot step onto the c-file without losing the pawn by skewer after the rook drops back to h1 to be able to cover the c-file on the next move}
3. Kb4 Rh4+ {wK can cross down to c2 when bR doesn’t have checking distance behind the wK}
4. Kb3 Rh3+
5. Kc2 Rh2+
6. Kd3 Rh3+ {wK works its way back up to d3, where it can now approach the bR because the N covers c6 and blocks check when wK is on e7. After K crosses the e-file, there is no longer need for blocking checks because the king would be close enough to capture R}
7. Kd4 Rh4+
8. Kd5 Rh5+
9. Kd6 Rh6+
10. Ke7 Rh7+
11. Nf7 Rh2
18. c8=Q
Anon 11:50:00, your solution ALMOST works, but the rook can drop back to h1 instead of Rh5. If the pawn promotes, then Rc1 skewers the queen. If king moves out of the way first Kd6, then Rd1+ pushes the king either back onto the c-file for skewering or onto the e-file, leaving the c-file free for the rook.

4… rh2 5. kd6 ( nc6 rh8=; c8 rc2+ -/+) rd2+ (=) white cant avoid checks; as soon as they depart from the pawn black plays rc2 and eliminates the pawn

mahavj – in your line, black plays 3…Rh8 instead and draws.
anon 3:12 – black plays 12…Ra8 and draws.
anon 3:26 – your line works, but you got to explain that, if black does play Rh8, then white simply takes the Rook with the Knight – NxR
