Tonight history was made at the 10th North American FIDE Invitational. WFM Alisa Melekhina became the first female to score a WIM norm at this event. She did so in convincing fashion as well as she systematically took apart local player FM Aleksander Stamnov.
Alisa came into this tournament as the third lowest seed but she is one of the tournament leaders. Should Alisa capture her IM norm with the minimum score of 6.5/9 she will have also gained 49 FIDE rating points from this single tournament.
Tune in on Tuesday night for Round 6 of the 10th North American FIDE Invitational being broadcast LIVE on the MonRoi World Databank of Chess – http://www.monroi.com/wdc
Alisa is a former winner of the Polgar Invitational. Well done Alisa!
Congratulations!
IIRC, she was not even invited to the U.S. Women’s Championship this year, which is an incredible oversight!
I’d also love to see her make the Olympiad team this year.
Anyone has the game moves?, monroi is not free anymore!
Actually it is free…you just have to register I guess 🙂
