Anand will be the new #1 player in the world in 4 days. Who do you think will be the next #1 player in the world after Anand? Aronian? Mamedyarov? Radjabov? Someone else?
the next #1 will be the player who wins Mexico (IMHO it will be Kramnik but it doesn’t matter). Ridiculos attention to “elos” is a sign that chess is deteriorating as a sport.
Yes, rating is too important for many players. Ridiculous!
It’s the joy for the game that counts.
By the way: forget about the elo’s and you will gain at least 100 points! This is very true!! When constantly thinking about the points you’ll lose, you get paralyzed!
Lose some points?! Whatever! If you’re good enough, you’ll get them back in no time! (and if you don’t, well…then you’re not worth your elo. Simple as that!)
Very hard to say as the situation at the top is so even and fluid at the moment (though I don’t believe in Aronian).
But one thing’s for sure: None of the current bunch at the top are a patch on Fischer, Karpov and Kasparov in their heyday. This is one reason the current new generation (Radjabov, Carlsen) is pushing through so young – there is not a high top to conquer!
A healthy Kramnik is rocketing back to the top, and will level off over 2800.
Anand will hold on to second place.
Topalov will drop to about 8 or 9 due to the increased scrutiny, but when it backs off he’ll shoot back up to about 3, and the then drop when under the microscope again.
Me gusta Annand por carrera y prestigio. No he escuchado contra él acusaciones, ni lo he visto enredado en acusaciones cruzadas. Creo que es un jugador que no ensucia al ajedrez con sus actitudes. Larga vida a el Rey Annand.
there doesnt seem to be a dominant player right now. all the players at the top level have a legitimate shot at becoming world champion. with computers I dont see a player dominating the game anymore because the skill level has been taken out and replaced with computer knowledge. i think the draws that happen and lack of creativity in alot of the games is a direct result of computers taking over the game. very few players use original ideas anymore with a few exceptions. checkers players know there are certain opening positions that give a distinct advantage to white and are banned from being used. I’m thinking chess should use a similar strategy and ban certain openings because of the clear advantage they give to white. this would take some of that mechanical play out and make the players think on there own. it would also lead to less draws which would be a definite improvement.
Hum dunno, but definitely not Susan Polgar, since she plays only kids around 1100 elo, hehe hard to wins somes elo points.
😉
Seriously, i think Kramnik could be the next #1 player.
In the near future (ie next 1 year), I think Topa and Kramnik are the only ones who can pass Anand.
at the moment, Kramnik is #1.

Kramnik.
Topalov
I think Kramnik is making a big chase for the #1 spot and will surpass Anand by the end of the year.
kramnik of course
Topalov of course
Carlsen. may not be next. But one day he will be #1 for longer time.
I think Kramnik is now healthy enough to regain #1 and perhaps 2800+
