      White will gain nothing with a premature 1.e5:

      1. e5? f5! (probably the only saving move)

      This opens an attack on the white queen which white must address while simultaneously cutting the line of the white bishop on h7. I don’t see any move here that is obviously better for white than to just exchange the queens:

      2. Qe8 Ne8

      Probably best- leaves white with a piece en prise while the e5 pawn is now hanging. If white is better here, it is almost purely optical at best.

  A quite famous tactical strike- one I first saw over 25 years ago. The move 1.Rf6 prevents black from replying by pushing the f-pawn or h-pawn in response to the coming e5 uncovering the attack on h7. White wins material, and mates black if he foolishly takes the offered rook.
