Not long ago when Kramnik lost the World Championship match to Anand, some people said that he is no longer at the top of his game. His critics said he draws too many games to be a factor. But he has proven these people wrong again. Kramnik has incredible understanding of chess and he is off to a fast 2-0 start at the Bilbao Final Masters.
Anand is current in 2nd place with 4 points. Shirov has lost 2 straight games with Black against Kramnik, in the last round at the Chess Olympiad, and here at the Bilbao Final Masters.
Standings after 2 rounds:
1 | Vladimir Krámnik | 2w | 0d | 0l | 6 points |
2 | Viswanathan Anand | 1w | 1d | 0l | 4 points |
3 | Alexei Shirov | 0w | 1d | 1l | 1 point |
4 | Magnus Carlsen | 0w | 0d | 2l | 0 point |

Awsome games by Kramnik. Never understood ‘boring’ in comparison with this phenomenon.
Good point: I always hoped to be as bad as Kramnik is in chess — in any endeavor imaginable …
Anyone who can beat Kasparov in a chess match deserves respect, no matter how boring his games appear to the uninitiated.
The Python did it again, congrats !
“The taunt from Kramnik about ‘lending’ me the title, was ridiculous”
