Not long ago when Kramnik lost the World Championship match to Anand, some people said that he is no longer at the top of his game. His critics said he draws too many games to be a factor. But he has proven these people wrong again. Kramnik has incredible understanding of chess and he is off to a fast 2-0 start at the Bilbao Final Masters.

Anand is current in 2nd place with 4 points. Shirov has lost 2 straight games with Black against Kramnik, in the last round at the Chess Olympiad, and here at the Bilbao Final Masters.

Standings after 2 rounds:

1 Vladimir Krámnik 2w 0d 0l 6 points
2 Viswanathan Anand 1w 1d 0l 4 points
3 Alexei Shirov 0w 1d 1l 1 point
4 Magnus Carlsen 0w 0d 2l 0 point
