THE Chess Federation of Zambia (CFZ) has set April 5 as the date for its elective annual general meeting (AGM).

In an statement released yesterday, CFZ general secretary Francis Mubanga stated that the meeting will be held in Kabwe.

He appealed to all clubs to pay affiliation fees before

February 27 to be eligible for the meeting.
“All affiliations fees must be paid before February 27 and late affiliation will attract a penalty of 50 per cent,” Mubanga stated.

And tournament director Chanda Nsakanya has said CFZ has set March 12-14 to conduct national trials for the 2010 World Chess Olympiads set for Russia later this year.

Nsakanya said all zones were expected to hold trials before the national event in March.

“The Chess Federation of Zambia will be choosing a team for the 2010 World Chess Olympiads to be held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from 19th September to 4th October 2010. We plan to use the same team for other engagements in 2010 and beginning of 2011,” said Nsakanya.
