Galliamova did her job in equalizing with the Black pieces. But it did not come easy. She had to defend against ferocious attacks from Xu. At one point, Galliamova was down a pawn but Xu made a dubious 41st move which gave back the pawn. Xu could have maintained an edge and continued to put pressure on Galliamova with a different plan. Here is one example:
40.Ke2 Nh4 41.b4 Kd7 42.Bd4 f5 43.Bf6 Ng6 44.Ke3 Kc6 and White still maintains an edge. With proper defense, Black should draw. However, Black has to work hard for it.
